Where Can You Exercise for Free in Jupiter?
It is too expensive to work out. I don’t have the right equipment to strength train. Have you ever had these thoughts? Well, I am here to let you know Jupiter has some great areas where you can walk, run, bike and strength train for free!
Walk, Bike, Run in Your Neighborhood: Healthier Jupiter has created a “Get Fit Map,” which maps out all the areas in Jupiter where you can walk, run and bike. Find suggested paths within your own neighborhood or explore a new park or natural area.
Walk, Bike, Run in Palm Beach County Parks: Use the Park Locator toolfrom Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation to find local county parks, natural areas, and open spaces. You can also follow Palm Beach County Environmental Resource Management on their Facebook and website for a listing of nature walks.
Walk, Bike, Run in State Park: We have Jonathan Dickinson State Parknearby in Tequesta, located at 16450 Southeast Federal Highway. Join them on one of their many upcoming walks with knowledgeable naturalists. Contact the park’s visitor center for details, 561-745-5551, or email Libby.Reinert@FloridaDEP.gov.
Scrub Jay Walk 1st and 3rd Wednesday 9am to 10am
Nature Hike, every Friday from 2pm to 3pm, through the scrubby flatwood and river floodplain.
Walk with our Jupiter Icons: Hike through History with the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum. This program is open to adults and children 5 years and older. Admission is free but space is limited and an RSVP is required online. Check their calendar page for the next Hike.
Strength Train: Pay special attention to Jupiter Community Center Park, Carlin Park (across from the beach) and Indian Creek Park, where there is exercise equipment designed for you to build muscle and tone. Want to learn more about how to use the outdoor exercise equipment? Here is a link to check out: https://fitness.playcore.com/exercises/
Palm Beach County Library: Have a Palm Beach County Library Card? Search the shelves or online catalog or “book a librarian” for help accessing books and DVDs on yoga, kickboxing, pilates, and more. Train in the comfort of your own home. Also, check out their online calendar for free events.
Know a place, or a group, where you can exercise/be active for free right in Jupiter? Or have any recommendations of what you would like to see more of? Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will share this resource!
Do you face other barriers to physical activity, other than lack of equipment/resources? Check out the “Breaking Down Barriers to Fitness” article from the American Heart Association for other ways to overcome barriers and start or continue your journey to be more active.
